Message From Our Principal

August 2009

Dear Holy Family Grade School Families,

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! The summer has been a busy one with summer school and with the work that has been done on the school. The main hallway and woodwork have new colors of paint and so do the outside doors. The school colors are navy blue and white. The outer doors, railings, and lunch tables now reflect this. The blacktop in the school yard has been redone – a brand new surface to play on. The regular summer cleaning has taken place. The teachers have gotten the classrooms ready to welcome their students. HFGS is ready for the new school year. It’s always exciting to start a new school year.

We all look forward to working with your children and with you, parents. Holy Family Grade School opened on September 14, 1925, under the direction of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Here we are eighty-four years later continuing to provide a top quality Catholic education for HFGS students—a curriculum that includes academics, religion, music, art, physical education, and computers. The students participate in many activities and provide service to Holy Family Church and to the Glendale community.

The Parents Guild Board and the Fiesta Committee have been working through the summer to get ready for the Fiesta on October 18th. I thank them for their great ideas, organization and hard work! All parents will have the opportunity to work at the Fiesta, the biggest fundraiser of the school year. It’s a lot of work but also a fun filled day for families that leave great, lasting memories.

The Consultative School Board, committed to long-range planning and support of HFGS, is still developing. You will be informed of these plans in the near future.

Our school theme for 2009-2010 is "Sowing Seeds of Peace." Let us bring peace to one another with a smile, a kind word, and a helping hand. And let us always remember the sick and suffering of all in our HFGS community.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Marian Heintz
Principal
