extra curricular activities

HFGS
Extracurricular activities include Choir, Concert Chorus, Altar Servers, Student Council, After-school sports programs, Community-sponsored contests, and Service projects.
Altar Serving
The Ministry of Altar Servers is a group of boys and girls fifth grade and up - assisting in the parish liturgical celebrations. Altar servers assist the Priest in the celebration of the Mass so the liturgy can be conducted with grace and reverence. They assist the celebrant at the chair and at the altar by lighting the candles, dressing the altar, carrying the processional cross, carrying the incense, holding the books, and a variety of other tasks during the liturgy. They do this by performing their duties with honor and respect, reflecting the true presence of Christ at the Mass. It also offers an opportunity for Altar Servers to assist the presider during other liturgies such as weddings and funerals.
Mission: To involve young children in serving Jesus by assisting the Priest at Mass and other liturgies
Student Council
A Student Council member must always be a hard-working and diligent student, strive for good citizenship and respect all individuals in the school and community. A member must involve all students in making our school the best it can be. Help all students work together in helping our community, especially those less fortunate. Student Council members work closely with the faculty and principal in promoting school spirit, and assist in school projects.
Kiwanis Builders Club
The Kiwanis Builders Club provides a way to form sound, personal
values based on experiences in meaningful community-service
activities. The members learn by doing. They learn organization,
teamwork, and leadership. But the most important lesson they learn is that individuals working together can and do make a difference to
the world around them.
The Kiwanis Builders Club is a program of Kiwanis International, a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis clubs sponsor Builders Clubs. Kiwanis members recognize that young people today want to take an active role in solving problems and meeting needs of the world around them—whether that world is as small as a classroom or as large as a city.
