eighth grade

Dear Parents,
My name is Matthew Ho and I will lead your children on an adventure of academic and spiritual growth this year. I hope to make it a memorable, exciting, and fun year for them. I have extremely high standards and I will challenge them to be the best and let them grow to their own potential. It will not be easy, but I know they can exceed the challenge. I have 10 years of teaching experience, bachelor’s degree, and my masters in education. I went through a Catholic education myself by attending and graduating St. James the Less and St. Francis High School. I value my Catholic education, so when I entered teaching I wanted to teach in a Catholic school, rather than a public school. I am passionate about teaching and I understand theamazing responsibility that I have. I am grateful and fortunate to be here at HFGS. I look forward to working with the wonderful administration, faculty, and staffat this school. We will all work together for your children's benefit.
I will be the eighth grade homeroom teacher and teach math to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. I am excited to be here. I believe that you are the primary educators of your children. I hope to collaborate with you through open communication and transparency to ensure the success of your children. I will do my best to educate your children in all facets of their academic and spirituality.
What a wonderful time to be at HFGS with the infusion of technology. The world has moved into the digital age with the new advanced wonders of this era. Every six months new technology will appear. We are moving into the digital age at HFGS along with the changing world. This year we begin the pilot program of using iPads in the classroom. The seventh and eighth grade students will have their own iPads to explore and use to do their school work. The iPads will not replace textbooks, pen and paper, or teachers, but will enhance student learning by making it more efficient, practical, and mainstream. The success of the program will depend on all parents, students, and teachers to not fear the use or misuse of the iPads, but rather, we need to embrace and have an adventurous spirit towards today's advanced technology. If we hold back we will never reach our potential to be better than we are. So let's all get on board and set sail into the future. We are in for an exciting year.
Sincerely,
Matthew Ho
