Dear Parents,
It's hard to believe but it's that time of the year again - the beginning of a new school year. Welcome back! And while you aren't part of the teaching staff, you are just as important to your children's education as we are.
Your children receive the best education when we work as a team. It's a parent's enthusiasm, support and involvement that inspires children to do their best; and a teacher's ability to teach what they need to learn. Together we can achieve amazing things!
There's a lot of excitement ahead of us, including new teachers to meet, new books to read, new friends to meet and definitely new skills to master...and I look forward to you sharing in those exciting times.
This year we will continue to focus on enhancing our technology skills in all grades, as HFGS prepares its students for the digital era. The 7th and 8th grade students will have the amazing opportunity to do just that by participating in the iPAD Pilot Program. It promises to be an exciting year filled with great learning.
I believe our school's philosophy is based on the knowledge that children learn best by doing, exploring and social interaction. I believe that one single teaching method is not appropriate for all children. At Holy Family we provide a developmentally sensitive curriculum which encourages each child to explore their world, and helps children become responsible members of a group while interacting effectively with peers.
In closing, I encourage you to fully embrace the moment and urge you to take time from your busy schedule to become familiar with our school, as well as create a homework-friendly environment that will allow your children to excel.
Thank you for your commitment to your child's education. I look forward to seeing you all during our annual Scholastic Book Fair. Together we can do great things.
Sincerely,
Ms. Maria Talavera
