Dear Holy Family Grade School Parents:

Welcome to our faith-based school community!

We shall begin another school year with a lot of great things we would like to achieve. All these dreams shall become a reality when we take them from our very own mission and school wide expectations. On our journey to fulfill our dreams, we shall remain focused.

Holy Family Grade School celebrates its 86th Anniversary on September 14th, 2011. We always remember the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – the BVM nuns who started these all back in 1925. We keep them close to our hearts. This is going to be an awesome year as we have brought in a lot of changes to keep raising the bar for HFGS. These changes will primarily be for the benefit of the children and you -- our families… who are our key shareholders. Together, we shall all grow and work together in an educational setting and in a Catholic environment; and, this Parent-Student Handbook will be an important reference.

With all of God’s graces bestowed upon us, we shall work with each one and move on with the goals of helping develop each child entrusted in our care – especially with emphases on deepening of the spirit and the advancement in academics!

We have developed new programs for this academic year . We have installed in every classroom short throw LCD projectors and a white interactive screen for both teachers’ and students’ utilization of iPads, a Spanish Foreign Language curriculum from Kinder through 8th grade, a Band/Musical Instruments program, Gradelink - an electronic grading system, a zero-period Pre-Algebra & Algebra Course for 7th & 8th Grade for 4 months, the inclusion of 2 new parish programs – The EDGE for our middle school students and That Man Is You for our fathers, and many more.

Fr. Jim, our pastor is in full support of all these advancements and with his spiritual leadership are his fellow priests – Fr. Mike Perucho (Associate Pastor), Fr. Juan Marcial, Fr. John Bosco and Fr. Joseph Martin. Mary & Phil Avila, our PTO Presidents and the Officers of our PTO will work hand in hand with us. Mrs. Sarah Chatterton, our new Vice-Principal, together with our faculty and staff, will be assisting me with all of our spiritual and academic goals. Please feel free to give us your feedback on how our students and all of us are doing here.

This year we emphasize the importance of GENEROSITY. As we love God first, we commit to giving what we have… with passion. We need each one in our team, in our family to be generous, so let us have that Spirit of giving… that sense of generosity… that sense of love.

I appreciate your commitment to our mission. I am looking forward to a great school year!

Sincerely,

Miss Fidela B. Suelto
